About
My name is Amie Jo Adair
I am Amie Jo Adair. A health and wellness enthusiast, a massage therapist born in Southern California as well as a very proud Native American daughter of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma. I am on a mission to take what I have learned about health and balance and pay it forward into my communities through massage therapy and Functional Health Coaching. As a very young girl my mind and body were not at peace. I spent a majority of my youth and young life confused, scared, misdiagnosed and teased. Unaware of how to verbalize the emotions, I bottled up ALL of what I was going through. I didn't want to be singled out and I was already being made fun of so I thought keeping to myself was my superpower, made me look strong. I'd always say, " I'm fine." My story is not unlike many others, we deal with childhood trauma differently and hopefully as we grow and change and learn we can also accept, forgive and love our selves. But if we don't learn how to accept, love and forgive ourselves, we continue to suffer. When I was 19 years old I had a fascination with the human body, soaked up anatomy and physiology courses and attained a Certificate in Massage Therapy as a means to assist my parents in paying for my college tuition. In short, I received a diploma from UCSB got certified as a nursing assistant in Seattle, WA, moved back down to Berkeley, CA where I fell in love and after 8 years away, I landed back home in Santa Barbara! Over the years, I dealt head-on with missed health diagnoses, weight gain -weight loss and gain again, brain fog, hormone imbalance, uterine fibroids, migraines, at 30 years old a life-threatening Pulmonary Embolism almost took my life. It was then my research lead me to functional medicine and at that time I learned skills and tools I put into practice each and every day. Through this practice I was able to set myself up for a path to heal from the inside out and when I decided to take my health back, everything changed. I have not looked back. A part of me always leaned on my Osage lineage, teaching me to heal and to heal others, it always guided me to return to the areas I value most for answers - mother nature, family, connection and service. I now use these values to be the core of my practice, engaging with the needs of my clients, and working with them to seek optimal health for themselves and their families. With open arms, I welcome you to be part of my journey of holistic health, balance, joy and love. I am so happy to be here with you.
